CAMPSPOT CUSTOMER STORY
Learn from Indian Mound Fish Camp, a family-run campground located in Central Florida directly on the Mosquito Lagoon.
We talked with managers Neil and Kelly Bonds to hear how they’ve grown the park their parents built into a thriving fishing and camping destination, with the help of Campspot.
Indian Mound Fish Camp is a small, family-run property that packs a remarkable amount into one location. Guests have access to a full bait shop, camp store, pickleball and basketball courts, laundry facilities, cabins, a fishing pier, and a boat ramp. Everything you need to go camping and fishing is right there on the property.
“Most people that are camping, fish. Most people that fish, camp. It definitely attracts the perfect guests. The fact that we have a full bait-and-tackle shop draws most of our campers in. Not many campgrounds have that. Not many campgrounds are on the water with boat slips accessible to them.”

Years in the Family
Apart from location, what sets Indian Mound apart from its neighbors is how they’ve structured their booking model to stay accessible year-round, even during Florida’s competitive snowbird season.
“What makes us unique is we do nightly sites, and most of the other campgrounds in our specific area are monthly guests. So people in Florida can actually get into our campground in the hard-to-book months like winter. We get a lot of northerners for the winter, and we get a lot of folks from the Orlando area (about an hour away) who come for the summer.
“We do a lot of transients in the snowbird season. They’re coming to our park for two or three weeks. They get a taste of the snowbird season; it’s a maximum of three weeks, then they go look at other parks. Most of them come back for another three weeks.”
With only six employees, Indian Mound runs lean, but every hire is intentional. The guest experience reflects it.
“Being family-run means we’re actually here. If we’re not here, it’s our hand-selected staff that’s here, and they run it like we would run it. Our customer service is what we’re known for. We have staff here that make you feel like you’re right at home. When guests check in, they get a parking pass and two free welcome beverages.”
75% of Reservations Booked Online Through Campspot
4.9 Google Review Rating (Up From 4.5 Before Campspot)
Before Campspot, Indian Mound was managing reservations on a spreadsheet. As the park pushed toward more nightly bookings, it became clear that wasn’t going to cut it.
“We actually did go to a competitor first. We did that for about a year, and said ok, there is something better out there.
“Most of the campers in our park—because we were trying to make it more nightly—needed to be able to book online. So we had to find a partner that can help us 24/7. Campspot has definitely helped us.”
“We actually interviewed other campgrounds that had used Campspot. Our last platform lacked customer service. We went to Campspot, and once the migration was done, we were golden. Our customer service representative assigned to us made it seamless.”
The day-to-day impact of switching to Campspot showed up quickly—less time on the phone, less paper to manage, and more bandwidth for the work that actually matters.
“Before Campspot, every camper had an index card with all of their data. Now it’s in the cloud, so we can access it whenever we need it. We don’t have a big Rolodex that carries everything. Our staff doesn’t have to sit there and book every reservation. Seventy-five percent are online. It’s definitely more organized.
“Our check-in and checkout process is super easy. It’s definitely streamlined. Before, an average reservation was 6.5 minutes on the phone. Now, our staff can focus on the guests who are checking in, instead of sitting there going, ‘What dates do you need? What’s your credit card number?'”
“Our revenue has definitely increased with Campspot’s Lock Site and Grid Optimization features. It’s year over year growth—we haven’t had any downturns.”
Kelly Bonds, Manager
When it comes to specific tools, a few Campspot features have stood out above the rest, both for the time they save and the revenue impact they’ve had.
“Our revenue has definitely increased with Campspot’s Lock Site and Grid Optimization features. It’s year over year growth—we haven’t had any downturns.“
“Also, the online terms and conditions save so much time. We get that done before the guest ever shows up on the property, so they don’t have to stand at a desk and fill out a bunch of paperwork.
“The auto-generated emails send a confirmation so the guest can look at their dates, and another auto-generated email at the end asks them to leave a review. We don’t have to think about it. We don’t have to remember it. We went from a 4.5 to a 4.9 based on all of the reviews we got from Campspot guests. People aren’t going to just do it unless they have a link right there and we say, hey, can you leave one for us?”
“The customer service really captured us too. If I have a problem, I email our customer service rep or give a call. Most of the problems that we’ve had are very minimal, and it’s resolved within an hour. It’s a great service that’s definitely raised our revenue and increased customer satisfaction.“
For Neil and Kelly, Campspot’s operational efficiencies have freed up energy they’ve been able to pour right back into the park, and their guests notice.
“We reinvest into the park, and we’re always looking to hear guests come in and say, ‘Wow, this is new since we were here last time. You really improved this.’ We like to see happy campers. The camping industry should be happy people—people who are here on vacation and having a good time.
“Most of our guests are return guests. They say, ‘Oh my gosh, you added pavers. You have the pickleball court. You added sod.’ We’re constantly reinvesting our income to make the park better year after year.”
“If you’re considering Campspot, go for it. You’re definitely going to see an uptick in your revenue. You’re going to see more happy guests. Your Google reviews are going to go up. It’s going to be way more efficient for your park.”
